Through the Cherry Gates (2025)
‘Through the Cherry Gates’ is Sabriel’s debut album. Written, produced, and released independently. The record was inspired by Sabriel’s favorite artist’s and producers, such as Prince, Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Egyptian Lover, Gap Band, Thom Yorke, Fiona Apple, and Cameo. The majority of the album was made on her ASR-88, bringing an undeniable analog dustiness to the project.
The album was created during her Saturn Return and was released leading up to its ending. The themes of Sabriel’s first album reflect her experiences during this journey, including tried and failed relationships and run ins with temporary connections that provided nothing but blunt lessons.
Songs like 'espressomartinis' explore certain mental health revelations that exposed deep fears of love. Almost every song was written in moments of complete fantasy. In ‘figgypom’, Sabriel recalls literal prayers made for divine connection.
The record also explores her ultimate discovery of inner power, specifically when faced with being in love with someone struggling with addiction, and ultimately deciding to leave it up to fate that maybe things will be different in another lifetime.
